Propel your career in 5 steps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before you embark on the path to becoming a CPA, you need to have a high school diploma (DES)<\/strong> and a college diploma (DEC)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note that some CEGEPs will require you to pass Secondary IV and V math (Technical\/Scientific or Natural Sciences option) courses, or the equivalent, to be eligible for certain programs.<\/p>\n\n\n

There is no specific CEGEP program for becoming a CPA. However, some universities will require you to pass Differential Calculus 103, Vector and Linear Algebra 105 and Integral Calculus 203 courses, and\/or obtain a minimum R score of 24\u00a0to be admitted to a bachelor in accounting or bachelor of business administration (concentration in professional accounting).<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In Quebec, the chartered professional accountant (CPA) designation can be acquired in 5 steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Obtain a recognized university degree<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To be admitted to the CPA Professional Education Program, you must have a\u00a0recognized bachelor’s degree<\/a>\u00a0(bachelor\u00a0in accounting or bachelor of business administration, concentration in professional accounting) or successfully complete the\u00a0equivalence of degree or\u00a0training process<\/a>. A minimum GPA of 2.8\/4.3 for the undergraduate degree will be required. However,\u00a0universities may require a higher GPA for\u00a0graduate programs.<\/p>\n\n\n

In accordance with our administrative procedures<\/a>, refresher courses may be required, given the constant evolution of the required knowledge. In addition, for each CPA competency, at least one intermediate or advanced level course must have been completed within the past five years as of the admission date; otherwise, an update may be required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
